Bankside Open Spaces Trust is a registered environmental and volunteering charity working to protect, preserve and enhance parks, gardens and other amenities in London’s SE1 and surrounding areas. We aim to improve people’s lives by making where they live and work greener and more beautiful.

We were set up in 2000 by Bankside residents with a drive to transform and protect their open spaces. People and communities are still at the heart of what we do. We welcome volunteers from both the community and the corporate sector. We run regular gardening groups, support park steering groups, organise and take part in public events and educational projects, and offer advice to others. We collaborate closely with local residents and businesses to champion green spaces.

Thousands of people enjoy our open spaces every day. Each of our sites is unique, with its own atmosphere, identity and sense of place. Our spaces include Red Cross Garden, Marlborough Sports Garden, Waterloo Millennium Green and Tate Community Garden. Many are award-winning. We hold more than 32 awards, including the UNESCO Man and Biosphere award, London in Bloom Champion of Champions and the MPGA London Spade for our community gardening partnerships

How you can help

One-off Green Team Workdays for businesses

Our Green Team gardening workdays are a great way to get your team together out of the office in Central London, while doing something great for the community.

Workdays are suited to all skills, fitness levels and weathers. These fun sessions take place in our beautiful urban green spaces and involve activities like planting, pruning, laying compost or looking after a pond or water feature, or maintenance such as repainting railings. All equipment, materials and trained staff are provided, the participants just need to turn up in clothes they don’t mind gardening in.

Our corporate Green Team sessions carry a cost to cover materials and staff time. At present we can host up to around 12 people (group size depends on workday location), though larger groups can be accommodated split over two or more sites or a morning and afternoon - please enquire for an accurate quote via greenteam@bost.org.uk

For more information please visit https://www.bost.org.uk/greenteam or to explore a booking contact Bankside Open Spaces Trust’ Green Team Coordinator via greenteam@bost.org.uk.

Regular Corporate Green Team

Regular Green Team Corporate Workdays can be arranged for organisations as part of a longer-term partnership. Large numbers of staff from different departments can come together to give back to the local community and environment.
