In a Field by a Bridge celebrates community and sustainable living at the heart of London Bridge

It takes a whole community to make a new festival a success - and you made it happen! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the inaugural In a Field by a Bridge.

On the 22nd & 23rd July, artists, Southwark residents, partners and members of the London Bridge community all came together at Potters Fields Park, St. John’s Churchyard, The Two Bridges Pub and London Bridge City’s The Scoop, to show how low impact living can improve our lives and help build a greener future.

Highlights of the packed line-up included live performances and talks on a pedal-powered stage supported by Fore Partnership and Team London Bridge, the Pollinator’s Parade led by local sculptor Andrew Logan and the creation of a giant city made from clay with Duncan Hooson from the Clayground Collective (sponsored by Potters Fields Park Management Trust). There were guest appearances from Keith Brymer-Jones (The Great Pottery Throw Down) and Dame Zandra Rhodes (The Fashion and Textile Museum) plus the astonishing London Vegetable Orchestra entertained travellers on the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers.

Social Enterprise Beyond Food headed up the community food offering with Feast in a Field, which saw renowned Chefs Simon Boyle and Leon Aarts mentor 10 cooks to perfect their trademark dishes and serve them to the masses - which they did expertly with mouth-watering results. The feast was supported by a host of partners including Brigade Bar + Kitchen, The Hilton Tower Bridge, The Lalit London, The Arches, Charlie Bigham’s, The Ivy Tower Bridge and Santo Remedio.

We were also delighted to work with London National Park City and celebrate their 4th anniversary over the weekend. The #DoLondonDifferently programme of creative workshops, walks and talks saw festival goers of all ages getting stuck in to exploring the wonders of urban nature around the area.

In a Field by a Bridge is an opportunity to showcase what London Bridge has to offer as a leading environmentally- focused business district, highlighting the transition to a carbon neutral economy,  advocating for low-impact living and healthier lifestyles. This festival aims to create positive social and economic longevity far beyond the launch weekend.
