Bermondsey Street Festival 2018 – When is it, What is it, Where is it?
Bermondsey Street Festival is one big street party. This South London festival is on Saturday 15 September and takes place from 11 am to 7 pm.
Bermondsey Street Festival started 12 years ago when a dog collar shop and a couple of restaurants got together in Tanner Street Park and had a band on the back of a truck! It’s grown a lot since then and is now visited by around 12,000 people.
So what exactly happens at the Bermondsey Street Festival?
Basically, it’s one big street party and is described as a \’village fete in the city\’. The roads are closed to traffic to create a safe and vibrant space so the area’s restaurants, bars and cafes can bring their food onto the streets. Local parks are full of entertainment, with stalls selling everything from handbags to leather aprons, peanut butter to honey, there’s live music and refreshment available from the myriad of local brewers and others.
Are dogs welcome?
You bet they are – and if you have a pet pooch why not enter it in the Bermondsey Street Festival Dog Show? There’s a number of prizes up for grabs, including best pedigree bitch and boy. You can find out more about registering and the different competition classes here

What’s happening in Bermondsey Square?
Glad you asked.
We are very excited to have two great jazz performances for you as part of the Bermondsey Street Festival celebrations on Saturday 15 September 2018.

From 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm we have the fabulous South London Jazz Orchestra with Live Band Lindy. So come along for a listen and a dance.
It all sounds very busy, what if I want to sit down and have a meal?
Check out Lokma restaurant in Bermondsey Square which sports the very best in Turkish cuisine. It serves a great selection of hot and cold mezze, charcoal grills, seafood, döner and vegetarian dishes. Plus there great sharing platters and a Raki bar. It’s bound to busy so you could book a table in advance.
I think I might invite my friends down for the weekend. Where’s a good place for them to stay?
Why not guide them to the Bermsondsey Square Hotel? The bespoke hotel has 90 designer bedrooms, including a series of loft rooms overlooking London’s skyline. Come down on the Friday and they could take a look at the famous Bermondsey Antique Market which runs every Friday from 6 am to 2 pm; or catch a film and have a drink at the Kino Bemondsey, a 48-seat independent cinema with café-bar and terrace.
