Bermondsey Street Festival has been an annual fixture for nearly 20 years, though sadly cancelled in 2022 due to national mourning. It’s the community event that best brings all our local communities together for the day, relaxed and having fun! So we are very keen to see it up and running again in 2023 and happily, we hear, planning has begun. The date is fixed – Saturday 16 September 2023.
The festival is a major undertaking with activities on most of Bermondsey Street and in two of our local parks – Leathermarket Gardens and Tanner Street Park. While the ever-popular dog show will take place Leathermarket Gardens, Tanner Street Park will host live music and food and drinks stalls, as usual.
Amazingly, the Festival is organised by local volunteers and the bigger and more successful it becomes, the more volunteers are needed to organise it, sharing the work and the satisfaction of making thousands of people happy for a day! This year, what is most needed is someone to organise the food and drink stalls in Tanner Street Park but help with in other areas would be equally welcome. If you have enjoyed the festival in the past and would like to get more involved in planning and organising the event, please do get in touch, email hello@bermondseystreetfestival.org.uk
