Set up over 130 years ago, Blackfriars Settlement is a vibrant community hub deeply embedded in the local community.
We support over 500 older people each year through our Positive Ageing service and 100+ people with mental health challenges through our Mental Health & Wellbeing service, as well as providing adult education to 1000+ students. We also support local grassroots and peer support organisations, provide a free osteopathy clinc, and run a social integration project aimed at bridging the divides between different local communities.
How you can help
We have some fantastic volunteers who work with us to support the local community. Some visit an older person weekly as a Befriender. Teams of volunteers come in and cook for the Positive Ageing members. Some go on trips with the older people with visual impairment. We would love some teams able to offer IT support to our members, and there are always other opportunities.
We welcome support in fundraising or donations.
