Begun by William the Conqueror in 1078, the Tower of London has served as a royal residence, fortress, mint, armoury and more infamously, as a place of execution. Since the 17th century the Crown Jewels have been on public display at the Tower, and you can see them today in all their glory in the magnificent Jewel House. You can explore the White Tower, the original Tower of London, which houses the stunning collections of the Royal Armouries Museum – the national collection of arms and armour.
Look out for the notorious Traitor’s Gate within the Tower’s walls, and costumed guides in the Medieval Palace who evoke life at the court of King Edward I. There are special events in every school holiday, prizes to be won with fun family trails, and of course, the legendary ravens. With all this and more, come and discover why the Tower really is London!
