The Cup Fund Launch

Join us at the launch of our new disposable coffee cup recycling project in partnership with Better Bankside and Paper Round that aims to recycle over 2 million cups across London Bridge and Bankside this year.

We need your help as local businesses so come along to find out how you can get involved and make London Bridge a more sustainable business district.

As we know the UK is addicted to coffee, drinking around 2.5 billion cups a year. That’s 285,000 cups every hour, every day. It helps fuel the nation, but the result is a significant waste problem. Takeaway cups can only be recycled effectively when collected and processed separately as they are a complex fusion of paper and plastic. This leads to most being incinerated, ending up in landfill, or worse still being left as litter on the street.

To help tackle this issue, Better Bankside and Team London Bridge, in partnership with recycling experts Paper Round, are rolling out an area-wide coffee cup recycling scheme in 2020.

Join us on Tuesday 21 January from 9.30am – 11am for the scheme’s launch, hosted at one of London’s leading sustainable venues, 15 Hatfields, SE1 8DJ.

Our guest speakers from Hubbub and Paper Round will set the scene, raising awareness of the problems being caused by paper coffee cups and throwaway culture.

Better Bankside and Team London Bridge will also present on the various ways local businesses and coffee cup retailers can get involved and help contribute to the project's success in 2020.
