A Building in the Making: Modern Methods of Construction at Chapter London Bridge
Chapter London Bridge has been emerging from the ground since the ground floor slab was poured May 2023, with 31 out of 40 floors now constructed. It will occupy a commanding position on the London skyline, and next year will start to provide high-quality student accommodation.
The building is designed by KPF Architects. The dense grid of student rooms is expressed externally through an arrangement of three-dimensional bays. A seemingly random, abstracted fractal surface is created, the faceted façade evoking the play of sunlight on water.
In this event in the Mace site office, Alex Tooley, the Project Director for Mace, principal contractor of the site, will share how the building construction is taking place: the off-site construction methods, the systems for bringing pieces on to site; and how it is being assembled piece by piece.
For anyone who can see the building going up before your very eyes, this will be an insightful session, which will armour you with facts to tell your friends, family and colleagues during the last few months of construction.
The event will take place at Mace offices, 111 Snowsfields, London, SE1 3SS, on 15th July at 5.30pm with views of the building (note this is about 50 metres from the building along Weston Street).
