Created in partnership with BBC Bitesize

As part of its digital learning output, IWM has partnered with BBC Bitesize to create three resources that explore the experiences of Empire troops of African descent in the First World War. Presented by IWM’s Head of First World War and Early 20th Century Alan Wakefield and presenter Femi Nylander, this collaboration between IWM and BBC Bitesize will enable KS3 Students to develop their historical skills and explore the various challenges and injustices faced by these troops through the lens of three seemingly innocuous objects.

Cross curricula resources for upper KS2 and KS3 & 3rd and 4th Levels

IWM tells the stories of ordinary people whose lives have been affected by war and conflict. To complement the wider national curriculum, IWM has created a series of new learning resources which, drawing on our collections and stories, focuses on empowering pupils and educators to address challenging and controversial areas of history. The first of these will look at how IWM's stories can promote resilience to trauma, positive nutrition and empathy with three new resource packs – Food and NutritionCoping with Adversity and Where is Home? –  inspired by our own eyewitnesses and veterans.
