COVID-19: An Update from our CEO
Dear Team London Bridge member,
Southwark Council has been compiling the resources to support businesses during the crisis on its website. One of the strengths of the London Bridge business community is its diversity, meaning not all information is relevant to everyone. Please do check to see if you are eligible as guidance is updated frequently.
There is now a grant request form, enquiry email address and telephone lines available if you think you might be eligible. Grants are starting to be released for businesses that get Small Business Rates Relief, and for small businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sector:
Businesses in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) will receive a cash grant of £10,000
Retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with a rateable value of under £15,000 will receive a grant of £10,000 per property
Retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with a rateable value of between £15,001 and £51,000 will receive a grant of £25,000 per property.
These grants are in addition to the central government’s 100% business rate relief for one year for the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors.
New guidance on Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has now been published. In a move that could save businesses an extra £300 a month for each employee under the scheme.
Team London Bridge is looking into how we can support these same businesses. We are not yet permitted by law to issue a credit note for the BID levy but are investigating different ways we can mitigate the financial burden of this crisis. We will be in touch to update you when we have a plan in place.
Our teamlondonbridge.co.uk/covid-19 hub is being constantly updated with news from the London Bridge community; business resources and advice, online events, good news stories, and a community noticeboard.
Kind regards,
Nadia Broccardo
Chief Executive
