The Covid-19 outbreak has had devastating effects for local charities, at a time when vulnerable members of the community need them most. This week Team London Bridge has been reaching out to the brilliant organisations based in and around London Bridge to see what support they need during this time of crisis.

Here are 7 ideas to give back to the London Bridge Community.

1. Take part in the 2.6 Challenge

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of thousands of fundraising events which has had a devastating effect on charities. The 2.6 Challenge is calling on the public to help save UK’s charities.

The 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like – from running 2.6 miles to holding an online workout with 26 of your friends. All you need to do is choose your #TwoPointSixChallenge, head to the 2.6 challenge website to save your chosen charity, then complete your challenge by the 26th April.

2. Support Southwark and United St Saviours Community Response Fund

Southwark Council are working with United St Saviours to raise additional funds for local charities to help them to continue to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. This will, alongside the additional community grants that the council is offering, help to fund the extra work our wonderful charities are doing to support our communities.

3. Support Southwark Council’s Leaving Care Service

With the current pandemic at large, care leavers are less likely to experience the same depth of emotional resources being handed onto them in comparison to young people who are brought up in their birth families by their parents. Find out how you can help.
