London Bridge Transport Update

As commuters and visitors return to central London they are experiencing a change in the usual services into London Bridge.

National Rail

There is currently a reduced service on all rail lines into London Bridge due to the impact of the Covid surge on staff. A new timetable will be introduced as soon as possible in February. Passengers are advised to check National Rail Enquires regularly for updates on services.

National Rail is running a new rewards campaign to encourage us all to get back to using the train in the coming weeks. Find out more about the Commuter Rewards scheme here.

The Tube

The Northern line (Bank branch) is closed between Kennington and Moorgate from 15 January to mid-May 2022. This means there is no Northern Line service from four stations: Bank, London Bridge, Borough, and Elephant & Castle

This tube and rail map shows alternative routes during the closure.

TfL are providing a new temporary bus route 733 between Oval and Finsbury Circus, which will run Monday to Friday. This map shows the alternative bus routes.

Walking and Cycling

Remember, you can walk part of your journey, and the Journey Planner can help you if you edit your walking preferences.

There are lots of improved cycle routes in the area, and cycle hire options (Santandar or e-bike). We are waiting for the e-scooter hire to arrive at the station, but a docking station exists on Bermondsey Street near Long Lane.

The TfL website has more information on alternatives to the Northern Line.

Our funded police officer will be visiting businesses to run BikeRegister security marking sessions. Businesses can contact info@teamlondonbridge.co.uk and we’ll put you in touch to arrange a date/time.

Want to start cycling? We have two cycle shops in London Bridge; On Your Bike and Evan’s Cycles. Fully Changed and Pure Electric have a wide range of electric bikes. E-bikes will play a key role in decarbonising transport, read a report from The Bike Storage Company.

Boat

Sometimes overlooked as a commuter option, the river provides a great alternative for those coming into London Bridge. Uber Boats by Thames Clippers operate from Putney in the west to Woolwich in the east, calling at 23 piers including London Bridge City. Services depart every 10-20 minutes during commuter times.

And if you are coming into London Bridge over half-term from Kent or Essex you could do the whole journey by boat! Click here for more details.
