Call Out: Freelance Community Producer and Artists

 

Team London Bridge is collaborating with Tamasha and Coney on an exciting new project, revealing untold stories of the area through an immersive adventure.

Tamasha and Coney are now recruiting three new freelance roles: a Community Producer and two Writers, Directors, and/or Makers for the R&D of a new iteration of its ENDS & TALES series for London Bridge. This initial R&D is the first stage in the creation of a full adventure, the result of which will help determine if and what a full adventure could be.

ABOUT ENDS & TALES

Bubbling with magical realism, ENDS & TALES (E&T) is a series of immersive smart phone adventures on foot, inspired by the untold and often unheard stories and histories of diaspora Global Majority communities. By Coney and Tamasha. Previous and current adventures include We Are Shadows and 10 Thousand Heartbeats 一 異國 · 龍鄉, respectively.

The Brief

For this latest E&T adventure we are looking for a producer and a making team, with a track-record or interest in working with and within communities. The Producer and making team will research the history and stories of the London Bridge Business Investment District (BID) whilst connecting with the local residential and business community to develop an outline for each scene/section of a potential full Ends and Tales: London Bridge (treatment).

The key tasks for the Community Producer include but are not limited to:

  • Online research of London Bridge and specifically the Business Improvement District (BID)

  • Meeting and talking with members of the local community, businesses, organisations, and other areas of interest to gather their stories and histories to be used as inspiration/source material for the making team

  • Arranging and facilitating meetings between members of the community and BID and the making team

  • Documenting meetings/workshops where appropriate for use in the fuller development of the project

  • Working closely with the making team in developing an Ends & Tales treatment

The key tasks for the making team are:

  • To undertake research of the area whilst making use of research undertaken by the community producer

  • Meet, talk with, and take part in workshops with members of the local community, business, organisations, and other areas of interest

  • Meet and talk with members of the local community, business, organisations, and other areas of interest

  • To develop, take part or devise, if necessary, workshops with the local community, business, organisations, and other areas of interest

  • Create a written treatment for a full Ends and Tales: London Bridge

The role will be self-servicing, though some administrative support will be provided as needed.

Brief Requirements for the Community Producer

  • A minimum of two years’ experience as a producer ideally gained in the performing arts sector. Candidates with comparable experience in other creative sectors or commercial / charitable experience will also be considered if they meet the key requirements of the brief.

  • Experience of working with and engaging communities, especially those including Global Majority heritages or a strong interest to do so.

  • Excellent oral communication skills – confidence in dealing with people at all levels, demonstrating professionalism and diplomacy.

  • Strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise activities, focus on details and work to tight deadlines.

Brief Requirements for the Making Team

  • Experience of working with and engaging communities, especially those including Global Majority heritages or a strong interest in developing practice.

  • Experience in making immersive/interactive theatre, games and/or audio-led experiences, or a strong interest in developing practice.

  • Experience in either Writing or Directing in the creative sector, especially working collaboratively. Experience in both disciplines is also desirable.

Timescale

We anticipate that we will appoint the team in April/May 2022, beginning work from the end of May for a period of two weeks (options to split the two weeks over a longer period is possible).

We are expecting each member of the team to work for approximately 10 days (or an equivalent number of hours) over the course of the contract. The work will be delivered from each freelancers’ own premises, on location as well as Tamasha’s office if needed. The working pattern (days / location) will be agreed on appointment.

Fee

The fee for each member of the team is £1000 (excluding VAT if applicable). The fee will be paid in agreed instalments, on receipt of an invoice outlining the key tasks completed.

Out of pocket expenses (excluding London travel up to Zone 6), which are directly attributable to this role will be paid but must be agreed in advance with Tamasha. Expenses will be paid on submission of a valid receipt and invoice.
