Newcomen Street Wildflower Meadows
Just in time for spring blooming, Team London Bridge have partnered with Oriana and Southwark Council to plant a new wildflower meadow on Newcomen Street.
Planted using recycled soil from our Melior Street garden, the transformation of Betsham and Northfleet House gardens on Newcomen Street took place from April 11-13th (under the watchful eye of local feline residents). As well as bringing a little pocket of countryside to the heart of the city for locals and visitors to enjoy as they pass by, the meadow will play a part in supporting local wildlife, such as sparrows and pollinators.
The carefully curated planting attracts insects and other invertebrates (often butterflies, bees, spiders and millipedes), birds and mammals, and provides an ever-changing palate of colour throughout the seasons.
Creating green spaces like these supports our ambition to make London Bridge one of the most ecologically diverse business districts in the capital.
