COP28: London Bridge's Path to Net Zero
With COP28 about to start in Dubai, world leaders, ministers, and negotiators are gathering to agree how we can address climate change on a global scale.
Closer to home, here in London Bridge, we are taking control of our own sustainability journey through our London Bridge Net Zero Routemap.
As we move closer to our collective 2030 targets, here’s what the London Bridge community is currently working on and how your business can get involved as a member of Team London Bridge.
COP, Commitments and a Climate Collective (and a mince pie) - Join our Event
The climate emergency requires a collective response. Climate expert Emily Hickson, who happens to be a London Bridge Ward Councillor in her spare time, will report back from COP28 after her visit to Dubai, particularly on the role business has to play.
Join us on Wednesday 13th December at 16:45 - 18:00, we’ll also hear from two London Bridge businesses taking part in the Mayor of London’s Business Climate Challenge, who have significantly reduced energy use in their building and will share their tips. Find out how your business can take part in the next phase – the Southwark Climate Collective.
And we’ll hear an update on the London Bridge Decarbonisation Charter, and how businesses are signing up to be founding signatories.
This is part of our Green Network, always interesting, social and useful.

Your next step in reducing business’ carbon emissions via the Southwark Climate Collective
We are excited to announce a new initiative providing bespoke support to businesses in London Bridge.
This builds on the work some of you may have done using the xTonnes tool and also the Mayor’s Business Climate Challenge.
The Southwark Climate Collective (SCC) is a new 12-month programme supporting businesses to take control of your emissions and reduce costs, supported by the Mayor of London. The initiative will provide free, expert support for waste, supply chains, deliveries and building energy, worth about £5,000 on the market but free to you.

Be a founding signatory to the London Bridge Decarbonisation Charter
The London Bridge Decarbonisation Charter is a framework for Team London Bridge (TLB) members and area stakeholders to commit to making London Bridge one of the most sustainable places to do business in the world.
The Charter encourages collective commitment to work with TLB towards being a carbon neutral business district, as well as individual commitments from organisations in their net zero journeys.
Be one of the 30 founding businesses in time for the public launch on 1st Feb 2024. And please get in touch if you would like to attend that launch.

Keep moving to zero
Net Zero is an agenda we simply have to deliver on individually, organisationally and globally. It is easy to get side-tracked by the difficult economic climate and the cost of doing business, but we definitely need to make carbon reduction the new normal, so that sustainable business practice is good for business.
We look forward to carrying on our work with you, whatever your interest in London Bridge. We have five simple ways for your business to get involved set out in our new dedicated web pages www.teamlondonbridge.co.uk/carbonneutral. Please don’t hesitate to send your thoughts, and particularly if you are keen to know more about being a sustainability champion.
