London Bridge stands defiant against crime

BID funded officers PCs Noble and Morant with PD Elvis

Unfortunately, major London train stations are well used as transit points for criminals travelling between the capital and surrounding areas, including so-called county lines activity.

To stop them in their tracks, a series of stop and search initiatives called ‘Operation Defiant’ has been set up in and around London Bridge station over the past couple of years, yielding great results.

Coordinated by PC Lee Noble of the British Transport Police, one of our BID funded officers, the latest Operation Defiant was held 15th August 2023. Ably assisted by passive drugs detection Police Dogs Polly and Elvis, the BTP worked closely with colleagues from the Met Police and City of London Police, as well as staff from TfL and Network Rail to deal with any ticket offences.

As well as arrests for offences including possession of drugs with intent to supply and carrying an offensive weapon, there were a number of community resolutions issued for possession of cannabis and a large number of penalty fares given out to people trying to get away with not paying for their tickets.

So, say hello to the team next time you see a large Police presence at the station, they’re doing a fantastic job of keeping London Bridge and our community safe.
