Towards Zero Waste: A New Waste Strategy for London Bridge

Team London Bridge is launching a new waste strategy ‘Towards Zero Waste’, prioritising the reduction of waste and the re-use of materials locally.

We are currently sharing an invitation for partnership with waste service providers, circular economy companies, and anyone doing interesting things with waste. We hope to partner with a group of organisations who can help is in the areas of:

  1. Monitoring Waste

  2. Using Cargo Bikes to collect Waste

  3. Leadership, Behaviour Change and Education

  4. Circular Economy

  5. Supply Chain – consumables and packaging

For the past 15 years Team London Bridge has subsidised 50% off recycling waste collection for any of our members who have the flexibility to choose their own waste contract. In that time our preferred suppliers have raised recycling rates to 70% and huge progress has been made in terms of diverting waste from landfill. We’ve also facilitated a growing number of zero emissions waste collections by supporting service providers to switch to using cargo bikes.

But we see the real problem is the amount of stuff that is bought, consumed, and thrown away in London Bridge. To quote circular economy experts ReLondonwe’ve reached peak stuff!”.

Can you help share our strategy?

If you work in sustainability or waste, or if you know of any company doing interesting things with waste materials, we’d like your help sharing our strategy. While we have shared our invitation with major waste service providers and are reaching the circular economy sector, it’s hard to reach everyone who could play a part in the strategy.

The goal will be for our business community to have a collective voice that supports the area moving towards zero waste, making sure that we are properly supported with reliable service of waste collection in the mean time.

We are happy to share our waste strategy doc with you on request. Email tom@teamlondonbridge.co.uk with comments or questions.
