Time & Talents is a much-loved community hub serving Rotherhithe and Bermondsey. We provide a wide range of vital support and social contact groups for isolated older people, free activities for disadvantaged children and families, and lots more.
Our mission – driving everything we’ve been doing for 135 years – is to bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship. We work hard to tackle extreme loneliness and isolation through our older adults’ services and contact groups, and to reduce hunger in disadvantaged children and their families through our school holiday clubs, providing food alongside fun and learning.
A core part of our work is providing ways for people to share their time and talents, including a wide range of volunteering opportunities, skills-sharing, and chances to connect to their community. At Time & Talents we reduce isolation and division, building a healthier, more connected and resilient community.
How you can help
Volunteers
Time & Talents relies on volunteer support in several key areas of our work. We have a very popular volunteer befriending scheme, through which our brilliant befrienders offer weekly check-ins and company (by phone or, when possible, in person) to intensely isolated members of our community. Meanwhile, our Cycling Without Age programme has volunteers take older people out on trishaw rides around local parks and by the river, and Team-Up Take Part pairs volunteers with people needing support to take up a new sport or physical activity.
