An interactive sushi class facilitated over Zoom, brought to you by Wawa, in London Bridge.

The class is led by a Wawa Sushi Chef and the aim is to have some fun, work with seaweed, rice and other ingredients to make a variety of rolls, inside out, nigiri or temaki, show off and ultimately eat the your creations!

It is ideal for learning about sushi and team building.

You will need:

  • A sushi mat

  • Nori (seaweed) sheets

Additional equipment (should be available in most kitchens):

  • Cling film to wrap the sushi mat

  • A chopping board, preferably new / very clean so that food can be eaten off it

  • A basic knife, serrated knives work well, it does not need to be a professional sushi chef knife

  • Disposable plastic gloves

 Ideal ingredients (and suggested alternatives):

  • Cooked and seasoned sushi rice (white long grain or brown rice)

  • Sushi dressing for the cooked rice (create a dressing with cider vinegar and sugar, experiment)

  • Sashimi grade fish (fish from a high quality supplier able to supply sashimi grade fish, we would recommend not using raw supermarket grade fish but do use cooked supermarket  fish, smoked fish or tinned fish)

  • Sushi ginger (try using pickled condiments and present finely cut)

  • Wasabi (or a light mustard mayonnaise mix)

  • Soy sauce (Thai chili sauce, mayo mixes or your favourite dip)

  • Any fresh vegetables that can be cut to ‘fit’ a sushi roll e.g. cucumber or avocado, raw or blanched is fine

  • Plates to present your sushi

  • A small dipping dish for soy

  • Also oil in a bowl to help form the sushi rolls and water in another bowl to facilitate sushi cutting

Set all the above at a table and you are ready to go.

The class lasts about one hour with 20 minutes set up time before the class
