Druid Street Wildflower Meadow doubles in size
Team London Bridge have been busy expanding our Druid Street Wildflower Meadow - just in time for spring.
Continuing our ambition to make London Bridge one of the capital’s most ecologically diverse business districts, we replaced 300sqm of amenity grass and redundant flower beds with a specialist wildflower turf, building on the success of the neighbouring meadow. The meadow is now double it’s original size.
As part of Southwark’s Biodiversity Action Plan, we have committed to focusing our conservation efforts on stag beetles, house sparrows and pollinators – with the wildflower meadow playing a large part in supporting the latter two. The project also contributes towards our ambition of improving the public realm around the Victorian railway viaduct with more pleasant walking and cycling routes; a scheme known as the Low Line.
