New medical team to start patrols at London Bridge Station

In partnership with Southwark Council, Team London Bridge has secured funding to provide a team of medics that will patrol the station and keep our community safe.

Following a successful application to the Home Office’s ‘Safer Streets Fund’ which is aimed at tackling violence against women & girls in public spaces, we have secured £38,000 to run a new medic patrol service at London Bridge Station.

Building on a scheme we ran over the 2018 and 2019 festive periods, a team of three trained medics from Trident Medical will patrol the mainline and underground stations from 5pm to 1.30am, Wednesday to Saturday until the end of March 2022. In direct communication with station staff, British Transport Police and local businesses, the team are tasked with helping injured or otherwise vulnerable members of the public on the station footprint and adjoining streets - providing medical attention where necessary or simply helping them get home safely.

Their uniformed presence will reassure the travelling public and the project is just one element of our wider strategy to improve the safety of those who work in and visit London Bridge, particularly women who - as research shows - tend to feel unsafe at transport hubs. It also has the added benefit of reducing the burden on the health and other emergency services at this busy time of year.
