Cargo Bikes Cruise through London
On the anniversary of the Clean Air Act, Team London Bridge hosted our third Cargo Bike Cruise through some of London’s central business districts, promoting pedal power and celebrating all the achievements of the Bikes for Business initiative so far.
Following the success of two previous Bikes for Business convoys, the cruise was our biggest yet, with 25 cargo bikes from 15 companies. We had pedal powered (with electric assist) couriers, electricians, window cleaners, even Neko the cat - and of course, Fully Charged, our very own London Bridge based cargo bike retailer.

The cruise showed what streets could look and sound like without queues of motorised delivery vehicles. We’ve already shown data in London Bridge how the number of bikes has grown, almost reaching that of vans. In our Bikes for Business project, 77 local businesses have made a switch, and the reduction in motor traffic is noticeable through the area.
But we can and must go further. Please contact jack@teamlondonbridge.co.uk to make sure your deliveries are moving to zero emission (remember electric vehicles still pollute and congest).
The cruise was fun, but with a serious message. Transport for London is currently consulting on the ULEZ (ultra low emission zone) expansion to Greater London, and on road-user charging. We want to make sure that Cargo Bikes are considered part of the solution to the triple challenges of climate, pollution and congestion – not to mention great business innovation and placeshaping. And we will work with other business districts to make this message.
