Poetry shared across London Bridge to celebrate National Poetry Day
This October marked National Poetry Day, an annual celebration of poetry’s capacity to bring people together, when people across the UK are encouraged to make, experience and share poetry with family and friends. 2023's theme is Refuge.
This year Team London Bridge joined the celebrations with Apples and Snakes in their 40th anniversary year, asking six artists to share extracts of their poems with the London Bridge community. The works of these poets were shared on screens across London Bridge Station and London Bridge City from October 4th - 14th.
Desree, John Bernard (pictured), Lisa Luxx, Malika Kegode, Kat Francois and Reece Williams were part of a Poetry in Performance project that sought to nurture and grow emerging talent from across England - funded by Jerwood Arts in partnership with Apples and Snakes.
