16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence: Local Organisations Take Action

 

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign that begins on 25th November, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on 10th December, Human Rights Day.

This annual initiative calls on individuals and communities to take action in supporting survivors and working toward a future where violence is no longer tolerated. Find out more about how local organisations are take action:

Southwark Council’s ‘Through Her Eyes’ Campaign

Starting today, Southwark Council’s video campaign ‘Through Her Eyes’ can be seen on screens across London Bridge station, highlighting the harassment women and girls experience every day from boys and men. Southwark Council will also be running a number of free events and training sessions exploring how we can work together towards a future where this abuse and violence is no longer tolerated. Find out more here.

Hestia: Join the Everyone’s Business Programme

London Bridge based charity Hestia is the largest provider of domestic abuse refugees in London and the main organisation supporting victims of modern slavery in the capital. You can find Domestic Abuse support services here, including information about the Everyone’s Business programme, which provides employers with the tools they need to provide information, resources and practical guidance to employees who have experienced domestic abuse.

Guy’s Hospital Staff Safety Event 27th November Team London Bridge is partnering with BTP and the Met Police to support NHS workers traveling home safely. Staff can find us at Guy’s Hospital reception for an informal drop-in session from 10am to 12pm. We’ll be showcasing the BTP Railway Guardian App and sharing practical tips for safe travel via public transport and taxis. Topics will include drink spiking awareness and the Ask for Angela initiative.
