Southwark Council’s Leaving Care Service Appeal

Within these unprecedented times, it is a time of adjustment for all of us. Everything at current feels very different, and perhaps a touch more 'real' and threatening. We are in a time of uncertainty and none of us can say how long this impact will be last. We do know that by working together we hope to lessen the impact.

Our most vulnerable #care leavers:

With the current pandemic at large, care leavers are less likely to experience the same depth of emotional resources being handed onto them in comparison to young people who are brought up in their birth families by their parents.

With little family support to fall back on, many Southwark care leavers are now failing to stock up their cupboards, top up their meters and pay the phone and internet bills that are currently a lifeline.

One of the biggest challenges we face is our young people in starvation and isolation in a time of loneliness.

Please #help

In response to the outbreak, Southwark Council has already taken active new measures and approaches in support of the fight against COVID -19 pandemic and the most affected vulnerable people.

We realise that this extraordinary situation is likely to change rapidly over the coming weeks and the challenges will continue for some time. We are committed to doing our best to support Southwark’s care leavers. We would be grateful for your help as our partners, as we value your specialism and contributions you can bring.

Urgent #resources

We are literally screaming out for any type of resources that you can offer. From volunteers to deliver food packages (e.g baby clothes / wipes / nappies, dry food supplements, canned foods, fresh fruits and frozen items) to donation of free clothing, offer of free venues, building spaces, products, services or skills, signposting, gifts, or even just a quality of time, any worthwhile support is necessary.

From the heart of your business = From the heart of you

We urge, that we all come together in supporting the most vulnerable of our young people. We as businesses, companies, individuals, corporates and charities, must not let some of the most vulnerable in our society fall through the cracks at a time of national emergency.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly on 07843-341-568 or email should you have any further questions. Your support will be hugely appreciated.
