CJS Plants donate blooms to NHS Staff ahead of Easter weekend

In another uplifting display of kindness in our community, Team London Bridge contractor CJS Plants has donated nearly 2000 seasonal plants to NHS staff at Guy’s Hospital.

As spring arrives, the family-run business would ordinarily be busy refreshing the hanging baskets and floral displays of hotels, restaurants and pubs across London. With so many closures as a result of the current coronavirus outbreak, CJS has found themselves with hundreds of spare pansies and violas in the nursery.

Rather than sentence perfectly good plants to the compost heap, Managing Director Charles Short decided to see if he could lift the spirits of NHS staff by donating the plants, hopefully bringing some joy and colour to their gardens in time for the Easter weekend

Team London Bridge has been a client of CJS since the BID began in 2006, with the family-run business maintaining our network of street planting, green walls, public gardens and wildflower meadows. Although temporarily scaled back for the time being, our efforts to keep the streets of London Bridge beautiful and healthy with an abundance of greenery will re-start in earnest once our member businesses begin returning to the BID area.

Additional thanks to Paul Imber, Head of Campus Operations, for the logistical help in getting the plants to staff whilst maintaining all-important social distancing.
