Volunteers Needed in SE1 - The Borough Free Fridge

The Borough Free Fridge provides a week’s healthy, balanced food to those in our area struggling to access or afford food.

This facility was initially a response to the food issues of the pandemic but has highlighted the food insecurity and isolation that many local residents struggle with for much of the time. They currently provide food to 120 households (ranging in size from 1 to 7 people) each week. This innitiative is hosted by St George the Martyr Church on Borough High Street.

Volunteers Needed

Most people now come directly to the church to collect their food and volunteers are needed who can spare a couple of hours on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday mornings.

  • Wednesdays and Fridays: packing food parcels, unloading and sorting out deliveries

  • Thursdays: packing, help give out the food packages to those coming to collect

What’s in it for you? A great team spirit and the chance to help those in need in the community.
