Major Tube Closures Between Kennington and Moorgate

15 January until mid-May 2022 there will be a major closure of the Bank branch of the Northern line between Kennington and Moorgate (including London Bridge station) to support the delivery of the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade (BSCU) Project.

The closure will have significant impacts across the public transport network. However, our detailed modelling shows that we will be able to provide all customers with a planned alternative route, with passengers able to complete their journeys by other Tube, rail, bus, walking and cycling routes. We will share detailed travel advice by autumn 2021, well in advance of the closure.

To help passengers, TfL will:

·      Run an increased service on the Northern line Charing Cross branch

·      Provide additional bus capacity, with a temporary new route from Oval into the City

·      Continue discussions with Network Rail and Train Operating Companies regarding passengers using alternative National Rail services, such as Waterloo East to London Bridge, Thameslink core (between Blackfriars and London. St Pancras) and London Bridge to Cannon Street

·      Deploy additional staff across our network to provide additional support to customers

·      Encourage customers to use active travel options as alternatives, by providing clearly signed walking routes – and supported by reviews of crossing  and traffic signals

·      Run a detailed communications campaign with plenty of notice, to ensure customers are aware of their travel options during the closure

Over the coming weeks and months, TfL will continue to update you with further information regarding the closure, but should you require a more detailed briefing, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with clairealleguen@tfl.gov.uk
