The London Bridge Green Network - tackling the climate emergency together
by Jack Skillen, Placeshaping Director
Team London Bridge has put sustainability at the heart of the 5-year business plan. As a business district we want to be at the forefront of making Southwark carbon neutral by 2030.
“Our vision is to make London Bridge one of the most sustainable, culturally innovative and compelling places for business and tourism in the world”.
The launch of the London Bridge Green Network series of webinars has made a great start in this journey. Each 1-hour webinar showcases ground-breaking work on a key sustainability theme: buildings, waste, logistics, biodiversity and organisational change.
The first session on Thursday was about energy in buildings, and we heard how landlords and businesses are making big improvements to building performance, and how the council can play a role. What is clear is that we all have a role to play, whether it’s turning off the lights at night or using renewable energy. View the session here
Next Thursday 28th January we will hear from PaperRound about the future of recycling, Fare Share on food waste programmes, and how the CauliBox is enabling us to stop using single plastics just to eat lunch. Book here
Other sessions:
4th February, 12 – 1pm – Business accreditations and tools
11th February, 12 – 1pm – Biodiversity and rewilding
4th March, 12 – 1pm – Transport, logistics and air quality
We are all at different stages of this journey, and we don’t all have to be sustainability experts to want to get involved. But we do need to increase our skills, our awareness, and work together. That’s what the London Bridge Green Network is all about, so do come along.
