Street Photography Workshop

StreetPhoto (1).jpg

In this workshop, you will be introduced to this art-form with tips and ideas to help you see what surrounds you and how to best capture it with your camera.

Street photography is a style of photography that aims to capture life as it happens in public spaces for art or enquiry.

This involves taking candid pictures of total strangers in the streets, sometimes without them knowing it. The aim is to record the wonderful mosaic that is the human experience. In doing so you will also be doing something more important as street photography could be the ultimate form of self-therapy for the mind, the body, and the soul. Through it you can go for long walks, interact with others in meaningful ways, and make art. It allows you to appreciate the beauty of the mundane and of everyday life.

No prior knowledge of photography is needed to join the workshop, but you will need a camera (any camera including the ones on your smart phone will do!).

The workshop will be led by Monica Walker, Engagement & Front of House Manager at the Old Operating Theatre Museum & Herb Garret and Street Photographer (Art Full Frame Street Photography Contest Finalist 2020).
